　　Welcome to Zhenjiang, today we are going to visit the Xijin Ferry Street which is an attraction in the reputation of Chinese ancient museum . The total length of Xijin Ferry Street is more than 1000 meters. It isafter theTang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties over 1000 years .The italiantraveler Marco Polo in the Yuan Dynasty and the famous American novelistPearl S. Buck in the Qing Dynasty and other historical celebrities were here to land and stepped into Zhenjiang, so every brick of the ancient street records the development and change of Chinese history.

　　Please look at my right hand, there is the western style building composed of five houses . They were built in 1864, the former British Consulate and the consulate of the United States, and currently the nationalcultural relics protection unit.

　　Those three words" life-saving club "now we can seewere written by the famous educator of qing dynasty Mao Qian of Zhenjiang. Thousands of years ago, the ferry near the river was very open, water waves, so this club is the supporting mechanism of the ferry.According to the record, this life-saving club is the earliest folk water rescue agency site of the world which reflects the excellent qualities of kind-hearted and helpfulness of Zhenjiang people.

　　Zhaoguan Stone Tower on this street is also the national cultural relics protection unit, which was built in the Yuan Dynasty, over eight hundred years from now. There were four crossing the street stone towers built inthe Yuan Dynasty, but now only one left onthe Xijin Ferry Street. Do youknow why this tower is built in the style of crossing the street? Tower is theBuddha in Buddhism, people under the tower is equivalent to worshipthe Buddha. Those guests always on the move across the river were too late to come into the temple and worship the Buddha of crossing the tower to pray for peace. Well, let us worship the Buddha together ?

　　The stone steps now we can see on my right hand, isthe ferry site of the Tang Dynasty. This ferry was alsocalled Jinling Ferry as a result of Zhenjiang was called Jinling in the Tang Dynasty. Since the Tang Dynasty, many great poets like Li Bai, Meng Haoran and SuDongpo had been here waiting ships and left many immortal poems here.

　　Go along the Xijin ancient street, we can see that there is a deep ruts printing in the middle of the green stone on the slope. This was the landing and departing cargo transport channel of the Xijin ferry , the track marks from those wheelbarrows.Historical marks deeply embedded in the stone which reminds people of the prosperous pictures of the Xijin ferry. And today, this deep ruts printing silently tells us the millennium vicissitude of the ancient street.

　　What we see now is the ferry kiosk of the Ming Dynasty which is the oldest waiting room where people used to wait for the arriving ships.

　　Here is the Qing Dynasty ferry site excavated recently which is protected by Zhenjiang municipal government for the visitors. Can you see that there is a tenmeters height gap comparing to the Jinling ferry wesaw just now, and also hundreds of meters away from the Yangtze River, from what we can clearly see the terrain change of Zhenjiang over the past onethousand years.
