　　課題研究現(xiàn)狀：

　　委婉語是人類使用語言過程中的一種普遍現(xiàn)象，是人們談論那些令人不快或尷尬的事情時所使用的較為禮貌的說法。它不僅是一種社會語言現(xiàn)象，更是一種文化現(xiàn)象。隨著社會的進步，人類文明的發(fā)展，委婉語始終伴隨著整個社會的言語交際過程，表現(xiàn)出極強的言語交際功能。

　　早在16世紀80年代初，英國作家George Blunt首創(chuàng)了Euphemism一詞，并將其定義為“a good or favorable interpretation of a bad word ”。此后，美國語言學家Menken結合美國社會的歷史文化背景，討論了幾百個英語委婉語產(chǎn)生和流行的原因。英國語言學家Hugh Rawson編纂出版的A Dictionary of Euphemisms and Other Doubletalk(1981)追溯了委婉語的研究歷史，而且對委婉語的特點，定義，分類，涉及范圍等諸多問題進行了廣泛的討論。英國語言學家利奇在《語用學原則》(Leech，1983)一書中提出了禮貌原則作為委婉語使用原則，還包括得體，寬容，表揚，謙遜，同意，同情六條準則。

　　20世紀70至80年代，國外社會語言學理論傳入我國。委婉語的特殊社會功能受到了一些從事社會語言學研究的學者的興趣。陳原在《社會語言學》(陳原，1983)一書中辟專章探討委婉語，是當時國內最為詳盡地討論委婉語現(xiàn)象的著作。陳原不但討論了委婉語產(chǎn)生的深刻歷史和社會心理背景，揭示了委婉語現(xiàn)象的社會本質，還從大量的委婉語現(xiàn)象入手，分析了委婉語構成的特點和使用特點，對委婉語研究有著重要的參考價值。此后十多年里，我國外語界部分學者受國外委婉語研究的啟發(fā)，陸續(xù)發(fā)表了一些論文。伍鐵平(1989)從模糊理論的角度揭示了委婉語構成的一個重要特征―模糊性，從而為運用現(xiàn)代語言學理論解釋委婉語現(xiàn)象提供了一個范例。此后《委婉語新探》(束定芳，1999)進一步運用語用學理論，比較全面的論述了委婉語所涉及的一些理論問題。

　　進入21世紀后，國內學者對英語委婉語的研究范圍更加廣泛。有很多學者都分析了英語委婉語的社會功能、特征、構成方式。王小平，胡海蘭(2000)從語用學的角度對英語委婉語的產(chǎn)生原因及使用進行論述，并探討了委婉語語言的間接性與禮貌原則的關系。魏月紅(2019)將認知、社會和文化因素結合起來研究語用學，試圖從語用綜觀的角度對委婉語進行研究。方平(2019)從語言文化因素角度對委婉語加以分析，說明委婉語的積極和消極兩方面的社會功能，并指出這些功能受語言文化因素的制約。談媛(2019)應用皮氏符號學理論對英語委婉語的產(chǎn)生和發(fā)展進行了分析。從皮氏符號學的角度分析英語委婉語,是從一個新的視角理解委婉語,同時也是對皮氏符號學理論的實踐。

　　綜上所述，近年來國內外學者對委婉語的研究緯度很多，有很多學者都分析了委婉語的社會功能、特征和構成方式，從語言學，語義學和修辭學等方面對委婉語進行研究，并且都已取得重要的研究成果。然而，關于從語用功能來探討委婉語的研究不多，英漢委婉語構成方式對比研究也不足，所以本文將著重研究英漢委婉語構成方式和語用功能對比。

　　課題研究目的：

　　本文通過對英漢委婉語構成方式和語用功能的對比，旨在分析英漢委婉語的異同之處，加深對委婉語的了解，以便更好的使用委婉語，為日常生活帶來更多便利。由于委婉語在英語中應用比較廣泛，所以了解委婉語的交際功能對于我們學好英語，進行有效的跨文化交際有很大的幫助。英漢委婉語有相似之處，更有相異之處。委婉語的對比研究除了可揭示其普遍性和特殊性外,對外語教學、翻譯和其它應用語言學科也具有積極的指導意義。

　　The Male Images in the Great Gatsby 了不起的蓋茨比的男性形象

　　菲茨杰拉德是美國文學史上公認的“迷惘的一代”作家的代言人，他塑造的人物形象是一批年輕男女追求夢想的戰(zhàn)爭，但他們與作者的生活經(jīng)歷和精神方面的關系密切。從這些內在的關系，我們可以從菲茨杰拉德的理想的“美國夢”的追求的夢想破滅的過程，所謂的“美國夢”是一種信仰，也是一種欲望，一種夢幻般的，在這片充滿機會和財富的土地上，人們只要遵循一系列的明確的標準，都有理由獲得物質上的成功，這類行為在第十八世紀，體現(xiàn)在富蘭克林，杰佛遜，愛迪生的言行。他的杰作，“了不起的蓋茨比”，因其巧妙的情節(jié)曲折，細膩、優(yōu)美的語言在文學史上據(jù)有一席之地。

　　(1) Purpose of the research:

　　The purpose of this study is based on the systematic analysis of different and typical male images in 'The Great Gatsby', . With combination of communication, sociology and ethics and other content, analysis the male image of the background . Through the analysis of 'The Great Gatsby', we can explore the male fate in this novel whether has a certain value orientation, develop a broader space and may of monographic study of male images.

　　(2) Significance of the research:

　　Fitzgerald is a 20th century American literature recognized 'Lost Generation' writers spokesperson, he shaped the characters are a group of mostly young men and women after the war to pursue a dream, but they are life experiences and spiritual aspects closely with the author internal relations. From these internal relations, we can see from the pursuit of the ideal Fitzgerald 'American Dream' to dream shattered in the process, so-called 'American Dream' is a belief, but also a desire, a dreamy, think On this piece of land full of opportunity and wealth, as long as people follow a set of clear standards of conduct to live, have reason to achieve material success, this group of Conduct in the 18th century is reflected in Franklin, Jefferson, Edison, card groups and others in words and deeds.
