To the Chinese people it is as important as Christmas to people in the West. the dates for this annual celebration are determined by the lunar calendar rather than the GREgorian calendar, so the timing of the holiday varies from late January to early February. To the ordinary Chinese, the festival actually begins on the eve of the lunar New Year's Day and ends on the fifth day of the first month of the lunar calendar. But the 15th of the first month, which normally is called the Lantern Festival, means the official end of the Spring Festival in many parts of the country.

　　春節期間，街上有許多來來往往的人：有的提著裝有美味佳肴的小籃子，有的騎著車載著拿著彩球的孩子，還有的攜家人一起看花市……

　　晚上，全家人歡歡喜喜地聚在一起吃年夜飯，分享著彼此生活中的奇聞趣事。特別是我們這些小孩子最幸福：穿著新衣裳，吃著最可口的飯菜，收到長輩們給的壓歲錢，心里樂開了花。可我覺得最有意思的是飯后看煙花。走出家門，抬頭仰望，天空中出現了五光十色的“花朵”，把夜空點綴得美麗極了!

　　大年三十，我與媽媽作伴去商場采購“過年必備用品”，到處都是人山人海，嘈雜不堪。

　　一路上，小攤販的吆喝聲、商店播放的廣告聲等等連綿不絕，吵得我耳朵微微疼痛起來。走在嘈雜的大街上，我捂著耳朵，媽媽看見我這番奇怪的舉動便問，捂著耳朵干什么?我說，太吵了，吵得我耳朵疼。

　　她笑笑，過年自然是熱鬧些的。我仔細想想也是。過年，奔波在外的人們無論多么繁忙都努力回家過年，然而過年孤身在外的人是多么可憐啊，“獨在異鄉為異客，每逢佳節倍思親”來形容他們最合適不過。

　　那只是對以前來說吧?

　　望著琳瑯滿目的商品，心里有種怪怪的感覺。似乎，過年，已經變味兒了。不知不覺中，過年已經越來越商業化，人們關心的不再是氣氛，而是過年的開銷有多大。小孩兒在意的不是過年的開心快樂，而是收到了多少壓歲錢。我覺得有些可悲，可我握著媽媽溫熱的手，什么也沒有說。忘了幾時在家時，她也曾拿著厚厚的賬本抱怨花錢如流水，我一直都是默不作聲。假若我吐出了心底所想，她又會說我不懂事了。

　　過年我并不開心，可臉上不得不掛著違心的笑容。
